How do I write a sonnet following an iambic pentameter?

i have to write a sonnet for english cl and can chose any topic i want...i recently went through a hard break up with the love of my life and now am back together with him. i don't get how to put the words in with iambic pentameter. da DUM da DUM da DUM da DUM da DUM. this is so confusing!
