High School Basketball?

I'm a fourteen year old girl interested in playing for my high school basketball team. I think I could probably make it (the school isn't exactly known for the quality of it's athletics). However, if I do get cut am I allowed to practice with the team? I live in a pretty rural town and there's really no one around that I can even practice one-on-one with. I think I could probably improve more by participating in their practice scrimmages. So do teams usually allow people who got cut to practice with them in hopes of making the team next year?
