Cosplay help?

Ok i am going to an anime convention in about 2 weeks XD yeah i know kinda late but, I'd like to dress up as toadette... i have fleece and yarn can anyone give tips how to make the head? everytime i make it it looks like a chef hat instead of toadette where the head comes out more. I have a hard time making it wider instead of longer i guess.
