What the hell is up with desighner clothes?

im 15 and alot of my buddys know were this **** its retarded, many of them use to be Grunge with me know almost every body girls and guys are wearing theses crappy shirts with bically free ad space for the companys and thats it on them, i dont get why its so popular,anyone wanna fill me in?
